ENECO Energy uses Black Box products
Eneco is a Dutch service provider specialized in the delivery of gas, electricity and heat, with subsidiaries throughout the whole country. Eneco Energy services approximately 4 million people. The company is also responsible for street lighting in its regions. The main office and several divisions are based in Rotterdam. The situation
ENECO's division 'Toonfrequent' is responsible for switching off and on the street lighting and day- and night power in the regions of Rotterdam, The Hague and Delft. Because they recently transferred to a new operating system, they needed a new network connection to centrally operate of all locations in the region. They asked the division 'Bedrijf Telecom Net' (BTN) to help them install a new computer network.
The BTN division looked for a supplier that could deliver products for this complex project, and found Black Box Network Services. A Black Box technical specialist visited the Eneco locations to get an impression of existing cabling, and adapted the proposed products to the present situation.
A few locations were already joined through a G.703-connection (fiber optic or lease line). By using Ethernet-to-G.703 bridges (LBU2090) the existing G.703-connections could be used to set up a transparent Ethernet-network connection. The other locations used copper connections. G.SHDSL L2/3 network extenders were used to bridge the relatively long (approx. 8 kilometers) distance between these locations.
Mr. de Rijke, Eneco's BTN Division: We are particularly happy with the excellent service Black Box offers. They really distinguish themselves in this aspect. They rake the time to provide support during installation. And because they're 24 hours available for Mr. D. Manuputty, Eneco's BTN Division: |
