Dräger Medical enables her customers to support their patients on critical care departments, like the emergency room, OR's and intensive care units. For the Vlaardingen location of the Vlietland Hospital they were looking for a reliable solution to enable the coronary care department to be monitored by two teams.

The situation
On the coronary care department it is important that the status of a patient and whether he needs critical care can be monitored at all times. A patient is connected to a monitoring system through electrodes. One should be able to check the results on multiple screens on multiple locations, for instance next to the bed, at the central nursing station, the doctors' room, and in the room where medications are prepared.
The original team of the Vlietland Hospital has been expanded and divided into two teams. The hospital asked Dräger Medical to present a solution to split the images of one computer to multiple workstations.

The solution
Dräger Medical phoned the Black Box Tech Support department for advice. After installation by the hospital the solution did not work the way they wanted.
Dräger contacted Black Box once again, after which a Tech Support engineer visited the location to assess the situation. Three more extensive KVM-extenders (ACU2009) - with support for additional technical functions compared to the cheaper solution that was purchased earlier - turned out to be the better solution. Black Box installed these products for Dräger at the client site.

Both teams of the coronary care department are now able to work well next to each other. When an alarm is triggered a team member can assess it, turn off the alarm and take action. Other team members know via the system that an alarm has been taken care of.
